A BANDA

A Red So Deep foi uma banda de rock alternativo formada em setembro de 2004, em Porto Alegre (RS). Longe dos maneirismos gaúchos, o grupo construiu uma sonoridade coesa, pesada e densa, com vocais suaves e introspectivos. Suas referências estavam na fina linhagem do rock alternativo dos anos 90: Garbage, Auf der Maur, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Helmet e Cursive.

A banda se destacava pela bagagem de seus integrantes — todos já atuavam na cena musical há tempos, o que garantia senso crítico na composição, produção e experiência de palco. A vocalista Fergs estreou nos vocais com a A Red So Deep, enquanto os demais músicos vinham de outras bandas consolidadas.

A trajetória da banda se estendeu até 2010, quando Fergs anunciou sua saída e o grupo encerrou suas atividades.

HISTÓRICO

A primeira reunião aconteceu na casa de Cris Selbach (guitarrista da Superphones e da primeira formação da banda, que contava ainda com Milton Borsato na bateria e Mariana Prates no baixo). Era setembro de 2004, e todos queriam fazer algo novo. Fergs queria se arriscar nos vocais; os outros integrantes buscavam experimentar sonoridades que não cabiam em seus grupos de origem.

Em 2007, o primeiro registro da banda começou a ser produzido: o EP “As black furniture makes cat hair appear”, com quatro faixas, mixado e produzido em parceria com Marcelo Kalil e Sérgio Kalil (Superphones, The Dolomites). A arte da capa — um gato com um lustre — foi criada pela designer Fernanda Salgado.

O EP foi oficialmente “nascido” em 23 de fevereiro de 2008, disponibilizado para download gratuito no site da banda. A decisão foi não vender o material, mas distribuí-lo livremente com arte e encarte para impressão caseira.

Em junho de 2008, a banda lançou seu segundo EP, “Heated”, também com quatro músicas, disponível para download em pacote zipado com capa e adesivo.

Em 27 de julho de 2009, a banda lançou o terceiro EP, “Delusional Stakes”, com três faixas. O trabalho encerrou um ciclo e abriu caminho para as novas composições que estavam sendo trabalhadas. A produção ficou por conta da própria banda. A arte, inspirada pelas letras e melodias, foi assinada pela designer Haydee Uekubo. O EP ficou disponível para audição no Myspace da banda e para download no site oficial www.aredsodeep.com. A balada “You”, presente no EP, já não contou com a participação do guitarrista Bruno Pommer, que havia deixado a banda.

Em 2010, a banda seguiu ativa com shows e composições novas. Em abril, foram apresentadas quatro canções inéditas (entre elas “Double Standards”, disponibilizada em versão demo no Myspace) e duas versões dançantes de Blondie e Lady Gaga. No entanto, em 30 de agosto de 2010, a vocalista Fergs anunciou oficialmente sua saída do grupo, encerrando a trajetória de seis anos da banda. Em sua despedida, ela informou que a guitarrista Junkie assumiria os vocais, mas não houve registros de novas apresentações ou lançamentos após esse anúncio.

INTEGRANTES

Fergs

Vocalista (2004–2010). Hiperativa, afirmava ter “dormido com o diabo”. Morava em São Paulo, mas mantinha a banda no peito como um “implante de estrela”. Deixou o grupo em agosto de 2010.

Junkie

Guitarrista e, a partir de 2010, assumiu os vocais após a saída de Fergs. Menos drogada do que o apelido sugere. Tinha predileção por tequila, afeição por gatos, DVDs e discos de Cursive, Faith No More e Arab Strap. Compositora talentosa, também cantava quando estava de bem com a galera.

Bruno Pommer

Guitarrista. Natural de Ijuí (RS). Mistura de erudito e publicitário, com gosto inusitado por mullets. Deixou a banda antes do lançamento do EP Delusional Stakes (2009).

Rodrigo de Muniaguirra

Baixista. Graduado em música, pai de gêmeas. Era o “garoto multimídia” da banda. Também tocava guitarra na banda de metal Red Pill.

Filipe Telles

Baterista. Nascido em Bagé (RS). Dividia-se entre as baquetas e a publicidade; nas horas vagas era redator. Foi eleito “pai do ano” em 2006, quando seu filho Henrique veio ao mundo.

TRILHA SONORA — FILME “AINDA ORANGOTANGOS”

Em agosto de 2008, a música “Pieces” — faixa do primeiro EP As black furniture makes cat hair appear — foi incluída na trilha sonora do longa-metragem gaúcho “Ainda Orangotangos”, dirigido por Gustavo Spolidoro.

O filme, totalmente filmado em plano-sequência, estreou nos cinemas de Porto Alegre em 29 de agosto de 2008 e chegou ao Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo em setembro do mesmo ano. A trilha foi composta exclusivamente por bandas gaúchas, incluindo também Damn Laser Vampires e Arthur de Faria e seu Conjunto.

SHOWS E EVENTOS (CRONOLOGIA COMPLETA)

28 de dezembro de 2007 — Garagem Hermética (Porto Alegre). Show com Made in Iron e Absence Of. A renda foi revertida para a reconstrução do bar após um incêndio. Ingressos: R$ 7 antes da meia-noite, R$ 9 depois.
20 de abril de 2008 — Clube Praga (São Paulo). Lançamento do primeiro EP e primeiro show fora de Porto Alegre.
3 de maio de 2008 — Porão do Beco (Porto Alegre).
13 de julho de 2008 — Gig Rock 5 no Porão do Beco (Porto Alegre). Show de encerramento ao lado de Superguidis, Damn Laser Vampires e El Mato a Un Policia Motorizado (Argentina). Lançamento oficial do segundo EP, “Heated”.
25 de julho de 2008 — Ensaio aberto no Dub (Porto Alegre), com participações de membros das bandas Lautmusik, Vanilla, Véspera e Unidos do Quinto dos Infernos. O evento contou com jams, vodka-gelatinas vermelhas e cliques dos fotógrafos Eduardo Zaca e Carla Almeida.
4 de março de 2010 — Projeto Quinta Independente do Dr. Jekyll (Porto Alegre), ao lado das meninas da Madre Libre. Houve também exibição de curtas da Alvoroço Filmes.
1 de abril de 2010 — Art & Bar (Porto Alegre), com a banda Undergrunge. Formação inédita com apenas uma guitarra, pois Junkie havia passado por uma cirurgia de siso no mesmo dia.
14 de abril de 2010 — Dr. Jekyll (Porto Alegre) — comemoração de aniversário de Fergs, com a banda Prozak e exposição de desenhos da ilustradora Patricia Morini. Abertura da noite com músicas dos EPs Heated e Delusional Stakes, quatro composições novas (entre elas “Double Standards”, em versão demo no Myspace) e duas versões de Blondie e Lady Gaga.
29 de maio de 2010 — Casa do Lado (Porto Alegre) — festa Complot!, produção da PIL, Rockwork e Blow up. A banda subiu ao palco às 23h.
4 de setembro de 2010 — Festival Indie Hype (data prevista, mas sem a presença de Fergs, que já havia anunciado sua saída em 30 de agosto. Junkie assumiria os vocais, mas não há confirmação de que o show tenha ocorrido).

CONTATO E LEGADO

A banda teve forte presença na plataforma Trama Virtual, selo digital da gravadora Trama, onde disponibilizou seus EPs e o single “Pieces” para download. O domínio oficial aredsodeep.com e o site da Trama Virtual foram desativados em 2013, mas a banda permanece como um marco do rock alternativo gaúcho dos anos 2000.

A trajetória da A Red So Deep durou seis anos (2004–2010), deixando três EPs, uma participação em trilha sonora de filme e uma série de apresentações memoráveis em Porto Alegre e São Paulo.
